You may not have heard of but soon will….
 
Helen Olajumoke Oyeyemi



A British-Nigerian Novelist born 10th of December 1984.

Described as a rebel of sorts by some, literary genius by others. Helen Oyeyemi attended Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School (London) and Corpus Christi College (University of Cambridge). 

As at 2013 had published 4 novels (with the first being before going to university), also has a number of plays to her name. 

Books include The Icarus Girl, The Opposite House, White is for Witching and Mr Fox. She’s generally, getting good reviews for her books. 

She pursues new cities like lovers having experimented living in Prague, Berlin, Paris and New York so far.
Awards include:
  • Nominated for a James Tiptree Jr. award
  • A Shirley Jackson Award finalist in 2009
  • A Somerset Maugham Award 2010 winner.
  • The Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation 2012 Fiction Prize for “Mr. Fox”
  • Included in the Granta Best Of Young British Novelists list 2013.
